Worthwhile Mods ?

Interested in the bits an pieces people have done to their 944's and whether they felt a benefit ?

i.e.

Strut brace

Poly Bushes

Braided Brake hoses

And whatever else you have done.

From that list only the brake hoses will be worthwhile, in my opinion. Anything that generates extra forces which the monocoque has to deal with are seldom productive in a cabriolet, although Delrin ARB bushes wouldnt go amiss.

This might be controversial, but for a strut brce to work properly it needs to be triangulated against the bulkhead, and Id be looking at tying the bottoms together before I looked at the tops.

I agree with most of your comment Simon, but Polybushes are so cheap about £60 and I'm sure it tightened things up, but it might have been the drop-links (£30) on the roll bars, which we did at the same time.

We did put a strut brace on and we are still running with it, but I'm not sure I can tell the difference.

But we run with KW coil-overs so most of it is pretty solid, without lowering the car significantly. ie Torque tube is standard.

Having just done it, suspension and bushes every time. Performance is good but the ability to have a better ride is superb.
I went for KWs but I'm sure Gaz or others would be similar.

Was kind of thinking that about the strut brace on a cab, will just move the forces backwards and twist the cabin more, the suspension on mine, according to the bills was refreshed, new struts, dampers etc in 2005 about 30,000 miles ago, so not new but I think its broadly ok.

Might go for a set of hoses when I check the brakes over this summer

Hmm, might go for a chip at some point, was considering a decat but I heard it makes the car sound awful, dont want to mess about with it too much but 20 percent more grunt sounds good.
