Wipers issue

Hi
I drive an 86 944 Turbo
The drivers side front wiper suddenly stopped working. It moves freely.
The passenger side continues to work fine.
As one side works and the other doesn't does that help shine any light as to what might have happened? and a potential fix.
Please advise if anyone has experienced a similar issue
Cheers
Julian

Sounds like the drivers side wiper mechanism joint might have come off . If you open the bonnet you should be able to see if the mechanism is flapping about at the base of the windscreen . There's a plastic socket which attaches to a metal ball and this socket wears out over time and becomes lose . It should just pop back on again but if it is worn it'll happen again . If this is the case the options are replace the mechanism arm or using a soldering iron heat the top of the plastic socket and roll it over the top of the ball joint . Worked for me and saved the hassle of changing the mechanism [:)]

A replacement rod is a tenner from porsche, bit of a pain getting the old one off the motor side but was a 20 min job on my car

I think that Sheffield OPC charged me about £8 for a new part. Fortunately I had it repaired whilst it was in for other work...
