Wiper joint !?

Learned ones!

My driver's side wiper blade rotor arm disconnected today - the ball and socket joint just under the windscreen end of the bonnet. It can be pushed back in and has held so far. Anyone know a clever fix, or is a new arm (socket part) needed?
Many thanks in advance,

You do need a new link with the plastic bush - but an elastic band works well for a while even with Fat Alberts mileages!

I used an O ring of about 30mm as a temp fix - keep a couple of spares with the DME in the glovebox.

There was a thread in January on this subject entitled "windscreen wiper assembly removal tips required" which gives plenty of information about this including my own "temporary" solution which is still going strong!

New arm from porsche was £10 0r £11 quid, garage changed it in 20 mins and charged me 15 quid

This very issue happened to a couple that were here on the R25 Irish tour a few weeks ago.. Just as the car was loaded on the ferry at Holyhead... The fella drove the car to Galway with only one wiper

A few cable ties fixed it temporary till he got the car home [;)]

Pity that the part has become available now. I thought the home fix of drilling a small hole vertically down through the centre and installing a 'small' split pin with a washer either side (to reduce wear) was a fantastic little free fix.

I used that tip gained from the titanic forum back in the day and it worked a treat :) cost me about 40p too.
