Windscreen washer pump

I recently bought a new bonnet because mine had a slight twist in it and the paint was knackerd I was out tonight changing all the hoses for the washers. Got it all put together go to test em and no water.
The pump is working well making a noise anyway its not the original pump thats still there its a little black thing iv see em in halfords before Iv sucked water threw all the hoses and I'm getting water which leads me to believe the pump ain't sucking.

So what pump do I get original or another after market

Did the washers work before you changed the bonnet? Is the replacement pump fitted where the original was? Have you pulled out the clunk filter on the end of the pipe to see if is blocked with green gunge? I have not looked recently at my 44, but on the 24 there is a tee peice on the pump outlet, returning to tank, and it may well be that when you suck the water through the hoses, you are back feeding from the return pipe whch goes to the bottom of the tank as is usually tethered to the filter by a plastic ring. If the check valves under the jets dont work the jet will either misfire or as soon as you release the lever all the water will drain back to tank and there will be a delay whilst the pipes refill.

When mine were taken out for the paint respray, they were put back incorrectly, ie, not fitted through the holes on the bonnet underside, so when the bonnet was shut the tubes were squashed and water couldn't get through. My powers of deduction worked this out cos they worked fine with the bonnet up. This is one of two things I've ever fixed myself on a car, very satisfying.

Yes it all worked before I'd got it all working for mot the T piece was buggerd so replaced with new and I took out the filter and cleaned it using some drain unblocker which worked a treat came out looking like new Yes the new pump is just cable tied to to original pump I'm pretty sure it's the pump cause

Take the pipe off the end of the pump and see if it squirts and check to see that you didn't inadvertantly reverse the infeed and the outfeed pipe during cleaning.

Yep tried that. No water comes threw any tube

What tee did you replaced the unservicable one with? This seems to be the only change you have made to a working system, unless the pump is now ruined because of so much dry running. If you are happy to have the bodge of a universal pump cable-tied to the original pump then go with another one if you think the pump has had it. The standard pump would look better when you show off the underbonnet to you friends. Before you bin it try priming it because if it's the sort of pump I think it is the gears on a well used pump dont have a lot of suction if they are dry. Finally just check that the inlet and outlet pipes are on the correct pump stubs, you didn't confirm that, and in any case try reversing them just incase who ever wired the pump in wired it up so that it runs backwards.

New after market pump worked a treat and looks lovely with a big red cable tie holding it in place for now.
