Hello everyone,

Unfortunately got a large stone on windscreeen yesterday and need to replace windscreen as badly cracked (not repairable).
Will go through insurance etc but just wondering if any of you have had windscreen replaced on your boxster before (this is a 987.2) ?
Anything to look for etc etc as dont want "cheap" repair company to turn up and make a mess of the replacement screen, especially leaks etc.
Do you go through Porsche specialist / OPC / autoglass style repair for these ???
Any advice welcomed before I make the call.

Thanks
Franck

I had my screen replaced in my 987.2 a few years ago by Autoglass. It is Pilkington , same as the original in my Spyder, but no issues since fitting.

Hi Franck,

A while ago a screen fitter told me that the Pilkington screens are better quality [fit and thickness?] than the Chinese equivalents, so it’s worth checking what’s being fitted beforehand.

Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.🤞

Autoglass has done a couple for me as insurance claims and I have not had any problems with them.

That's great feedback, thank you very much.
Did you change seal at same time or re-used one in place ?

Hi Franck.

I'm having a new screen fitted on Thursday. 987.2 Cayman.
I'm insured with Saga.
Had a chat with them, and they were happy for me to use a non approved installer to fit an OEM screen, then send them the invoice.
I rang Porsche Centre York and asked them if they could recommend a local installer. They gave me the number of the company that does all their replacement windscreens.
Ordered the screen on Friday. Arrived today.
£646 with club discount.
The glass company are picking it up for me from Porsche York.
👍
