Why won´t doors lock?

Hi,

Posting this for my mother who has a 2000 Boxster S - so thought you guys may be able to help also.

I´m on holiday in Tenerife at the minute and she has contacted me to say when she uses the key fob to lock the doors there is a beep and the doors open themselves again - so she can´t lock them and is in a bit of a panic.

Any thoughts - could this be something daft??? The OPC are saying over the phone it may need a new door module???

Won´t lock with keys either - same thing.

check that the doors and boot lids are shut.properly.just a thought . On my car the horn would beep once after pressing the key phob when the stereo wasnt in properly as there is a sensor on it.best of luck to her or i guss she will be sleeping in it.....

My sister had the same problem, as 'dynonick' says it could be boot lid/stereo. But with her car it was the glove compartment. You need to make sure that it is locked with the key and not just closed. There is also a storage compartment behind the seats, not sure if this needs to be closed as well?

If you just get a beep, then it is likely to be an open contact on the bonnet, boot, or armrest lid, etc. If it won't stay locked it is likely to be a fault in one of the door lock switch assemblies. It would be picked up on a test with a PST2, but for the time being you can use the emergency locking procedure explained in the manual. From memory (I had the same problem) you use the key, and turn it to the lock position and back three times in quick succession.
