Advertising in any form, including user names, is against the forum rules. Please refer to these on the forum home page for clarification.
Whether it is 12,000 or 12 miles it is still commercial advertising and we cannot allow one company to have preferential treatment over any other, irrespective of distance. It would be unfair to other commercial operations.
Whether you think it is over zealous or not is your opinion, but the rules are there for us all to adhere too.
If companies here or abroad wish to advertise their services to our club members they have the same opportunities as anyone else who pay to advertise is Porsche Post.
If you have any further issues please contact a Club Director who will discuss this matter with you.

This forum is read by people from all over the World. The internet makes global trade a viable proposition . Just because a company is outside of the UK doesn't mean it wont attract business by demonstrating their name on this forum.
Obviously we are delighted that people want to join our happy community and share technical advice. If their motives are truly philanthropic they can do it under their personal names just like anybody else.
We are fortunate to have a good many very knowledgeable people on this forum who give their advice freely. As noted previously, it is preferable that people don't demonstrate their professional credentials as the reader then considers the advice with the same care as they would were it provided by my 12 year old son. This protects both the reader and the poster.

Great news. It is always good to hear from 944 enthusiasts around the World and helps support my case to maintain an open forum for the furtherance of technical knowledge.
What also becomes apparent, from the standpoint of modifying our cars, is different upgrades get developed in different parts of the world subject to local race series. The UK has a relatively small 944 racing community and most of the series they compete in are quite restrictive relative to upgrades. Other countries have less constricting rules and generate more significant improvements.
It is always interesting to hear what people are doing with their cars, no matter where they are in the world.
Lets just be pleased that some people who have absolutely NOTHING to gain from this forum being that they don't export their services or product outside of their local area, let alone Hemisphere, are willing to share the benefit of many years as Porsche Factory trained mechanics for zilch personal or commercial gain. I have made mention of this site quite a few times to these guys and now out of their own volition, nor with any prodding from me, they have made an effort to offer their help if help is sought. Rules may well be rules, but a little diplomacy is never a bad thing.
Also, the fact that professionals declare themselves so rather than just being another 'guest', lays some credence to their suggestions rather than just another forum jockey passing on something they heard at the pub. I know I'd rather apply such advice from the pros than the schmoes.
I'm aware that I am treading on thin ice here as I am a guest on this forum (for which I remain grateful), but Patrick's post mirrors my sentiment exactly.ORIGINAL: 333pg333
I feel like saying something but I had better bite my tongue.

Mods, please feel free to remove this post if I have over-stepped the 'Guest' mark.

Welcome on board Sean (and Bruce) I have followed your work on Patricks car over on Rennlist for quite some time so it's nice to see you posting here too. I welcome any and all input from people who actually make their living on our cars as quite often us amateurs (though keen and well intended) can easily be flummoxed by the simplest of questions we've never heard of before [&:]
Seconded. [
Sorry for the initial hiccup, but we have to treat everyone the same whether they're trying to get a free advert or not. It's no fun being a moderator or admin but someone has to do it! [&:] Thank to Bruce and Sean for being so understanding.

Your attitude is embarassing and has a sickening effect on me, and I detect I am not alone.
I realise that the club needs rules and that it could be exploited, but cheer up in sunny Lanc's please and make some attempt to welcome these enthusiasts.
