Which brake calipers?

I looks like I'm going to need some new calipers - mine, apparently, are almost beyond help with plate lift.
1990 250 turbo. Medium blacks front but back?
Anyone got a good set spare?

Theyre never deyond help David, particularly if the bleed nipples and pistons/seals are still good. The reason that you hear so many tales of woe, I believe, is that people try to remove the old plates without heating the thread-locked screws beforehand.

If you dont do this then getting the retaining screws out will be a nightmare, but if you thoroughly heat them up then the thread-lock will release and theyll come out without a deal of trouble. You need to make a heatshield which protects the pistons from the heat, but beyond that its straightforward.

I have a set up at Al's garage that came off my car. They have some plate lift but looked not too bad otherwise. I am sure Al would get them refurbished for you for a reasonable price. Only problem is it would be 2/3 weeks before they would be ready as he is on holiday just now and then obviously he would need to do the work to them. I could probably get them to you much quicker if you got them done yourself, but as Simon says, I would think your own would be perfectly salvageable for anyone who know what they were doing.

Cheers
