Wheel size: 19" vs 17"

Have been trying out a Cayman over the New Year weekend with a view to ordering one in the near future. The only aspect of the car I couldn't come to terms with on our famous UK roads was the rock hard ride. (I will probably need to visit my dentist this week to have a number of fillings replaced). The demo car is fitted with 19" wheels however whilst the spec I would likely order would stick with the standard 17" wheels. Has anybody any experience with the 2 different wheel sizes, do the smaller wheels provide for any significant increase in ride comfort? Thanks
