Wheel Refurbishment

With all the chat on wheel refurb recently, thought it high time I had an oppurtunity to go and chat with Chris Talabi at Diamond Styling in London, NW10.

Without giving any secrets away, his service is indeed comprehensive. From the tyre machine that ensures no metal parts come in contact with the wheel, to the ex-Rolls-Royce lathe, his unit is totally geared upto refurbishing any sort or make of wheel.

Waiting to go out, I saw set's of Cup 1's and 2's, GT3 wheels, Fuchs alloys, two and three piece split rims -you name it, it was there.

I've used him a couple of times over the years, and the finished results were stunning.

Considered amongst the best by many.

But do remember, you get what you pay for....

Agree Mel he refinished a set of Fuchs for me and they were unmarked years later when I sold them, good price too.

I believe he's the only guy my tech Andy Fearns trusts with refurbishing mag Cups. He has done the Baron's recently and they looked good to me. Another recommendashun.

Yes I agree too. I'm in the trade and always send wheels to Chris at Diamond Styling.

He's got it right now with the Mags, but it wasn't always the case. I had a set done there back in 1996 and bubbled very soon after. They were left overnight after being stripped, absorbed moisture from the air, which subsequently comes out later. They need to be baked to get the moisture right out of them.

If you're having RS mags done don't get it done by some local body shop who probably don't know this.

I second RSR's comment. My local OPC had several goes at refurbishing my RS wheels - even when I sold it I still had a problem with moisture in one of them. Chris has been around for a long time and has a reputation to match.

i set of split brims were my GT2 's will be on the car at Goodowood ..............come and see for urselves . He is in Harlesden and for money will collect .

Are these guys based in White City ish..and do they pick up and deliver?
lee

His details are above Lee, do we have to hold your hand? I know Des does.....[;)]

Be brave and ring him!!

Melv... you cheeky toad

I've used and heard/been recomended so many refurbishers over the years I have trouble remembering if I've used them or not...anyway dont like to waste precious money on phone calls when I've got a car that won't pass its MOT.

lee

How much do Diamond Styling charge to refurbish a set of 4 mag RS wheels?

Thanks

Cos I can give him the answer...

they quoted me £250 to repaint mine ...but bear in mind that mine are brand new out of the box and coroded wheels would probably cost more..

Be interested to know what they quote you.

Lee

Thanks Lee, was looking for a ball park figure.

Bones - thanks for your advice, I have used a phone before but will bear it mind. A couple of places I have called have asked to see the wheels and I don't fancy driving all over the place to get a quote - was looking for a ball park figure.

My goodness, do we have to hold everybodies hand here, or is it just Lee......

Ask them!! Mention my name........

Don't trust Lee for an answer, he got Des to negotiate the discount and ended up with Chris paying HIM!! [:)]

Last quote I had was 265 + VAT and 36 + VAT for the tyre change -assume that has now increased.....

Always at your service [;)]
Mel

But that is what's so good about the forum, I learned to use a phone today and it was a revalation!!

Always useful to know what other peoples experiences are and how much things should cost before parting with cash in my opinion. The number of times I have had significantly different quotes from people (higher and lower) for the same work is quite alarming.

............. mental note - must get Des to negotiate wheel refurb for me [:)][:)]

Melv

You're getting sooooo agressive...Take deep breaths... and relax.

If we didn't ask these stupid questions on here you guys would be surplus to requirement and I would have anything to do all day either.

lee

sorry to sound thick here, but is that price(£250) per wheel ? or for a set ? will need to get mine done at some time (sooner rather than later). One thing to remember when thinking about delivering the wheels yourself is how to get then all in the car, ok if you have a large estate car but a lot more trickier than you think in anything else?
