'Morning Gents
this will probably sound like a really silly question, but I haven't had the car long and I'm still learning the ropes...
Last night having cleaned my blower resistor and cleaned a lot of assorted rubbish out of the cover, I stood back to admire my handiwork, and noticed that my offside front wheel (they are 16 inch cups) has no balancing weight fitted. The other 3 have various weights between 5 and 20 grammes fitted, and it seems a bit odd that one hasn't.
Could it be that that this wheel alone didn't need balancing? or is it more likely that the weight has fallen off??.
I could not see any sign of a weight having been fitted...
( how are they fitted.....glued on???)

Any observations gratefully received.....At least the blower works now on all settings...
 
It could be that the weight is on the inside, Mine are all on the inside of the wheel so they don't damage the paint on the wheel when they need moving after having new tyres.

You say changing the air flow meter made a differance, what did you replace it with? Can some thing like that extract any more BHP from an S2?
 
I'm getting a quote from Scott at Greenwood, 911 bodyshop and Porschworx. I'm getting the balance shafts checked out tomorroe at Porschworx to as i get a vibration at 800rpm to 1400 rpm. i had the right engine mount changed about a month so its not that. Any other ideas.

Have you solved the mystery of the rear wiper washer jet?
 
Dunno about that but I had a new clutch fitted last week and this cured the strange vibration through the gearstick that I thought was an engine mount problem....its a steep learning curve at the moment !
 
Yep I know what you mean, I'm getting balance shafts, power steering pipe, front pads and sunroof fixed plus a little respray all next month. I see your from Bristal! I bourght my S2 from Ceder Gourge in Bristal.

Yeeap thats the one, they do talk funny down there[:D] Lovely place and equelly lovely family i bourght it from to. So if you used to see a red S2 but not any more, thats mine[:)]

I have always used stick on weights on every car and motorcycle I have had (when they were available), with no problems when balanced properly I think they look far better than the clip on ones and as they tend to get put on the rear of the wheel don't show up from the outside. The only problem I have had is when the garage has used substandard ones where the adhesive is poor or the wheel is not cleaned of grease and then they do fall off.
 
Alloys should always have stick on according to my tame local fitter - the clip ons tends to damage the bead area.
Decent rims should be able to have the weights in side the spoke line too.

Locking nuts? Originals should be alloy like the wheels nuts, but thee are expensive so many fit steel ones which cant be good for wheel balance.

I'd say check the front wheel bearings for play, I'd bet on that being the cause.

Warped disc have been the cause 4 me in the past, and they were new Porsche parts. Did have a vibration when braking as well. And visual steering wheel shake
