What is this?

Name this 993 part. I'm stumped. I found it under the passenger seat of mine during a thorough post-guano clean last weekend (see this post http://www.porscheclubgbforum.com/tm.asp?m=37192.)

I'm sure it wasn't there before and it's definitely from the car - the date stamp shows it was made in the same month as the car was. It's black, plastic and about 120mm in diameter. It looks like a cover for something but there's nowhere obvious it should fit. I think the OPC may have removed it when it did the wiring harness recall work. Any gurus out there who recognise it?

Thanks

James

Looks like the cover for the port where the dealer plugs in their diagnostic computer. You will find the socket in the passenger front footwell, left hand side near back about half way up, it should have a nice black plug (like your picture) protecting it, if not then you will see a load of connectors and a bare open plug.

If not this then I am stumped

Good luck

John

Thanks chaps.

I know the port you mean and it could be that - mine was uncovered last time I looked. I was estimating the size of the cover from memory and things always look bigger in close-up photos... and my girlfriend says I always over-estimate the size of my toys!!!

I'll post again if it isn't that.

Cheers again

James
