what doesnt work on your '44?

i need to sort a niggle on my car = the radio doesnt work. and i found out the headlamp leveller doesnt work either, i think thats it. the headlamp leveller can stay not working if its not detrimental to the mot, but the cd needs to be sorted so i'll be taking a trip to halfrauds in the very near future.

what doesnt work on your car, and are you leaving them not working (presuming that you dont need it to work) or are you getting them sorted.

cheers, Al.

You might find earlier and cheaper lamps fitted. Its not uncommon for owners to have foregone aim control if the pricey lamps needed replacing.

cheers, makes sense really.

oh, and i've fixed my stereo, the fuse had blown at the rear, but i'll prob still change is to a cd/mp3 player (still has a kenwood cassette in it!)

What doesn't work? A short list at present,

1. The motor that makes the rear of the driver's seat base go up and down (or possibly the switch that controls said motor). It's in the right place for me so it can stay that way.
2. Fog lamp switches are wired the wrong way around; "front" fog lamp switch controls the rears and vice-versa. If I ever have reason to take enough of the dash off to sort it out then I will, but I am not going to make a special job of it.

On mine: every thing works except-
1. the headlamp washers, which I really don't have any intention of using, and don't want to: the last thing I need is a system which pumps wet stuff around the front of the car and might lead to long-term corrosion.
2. the air conditioning, which will be getting a full renovation in November when the car goes to Promax for its pre-MOT check-up and pre-winter service.

If erratic operation is considered as not working, then the light under the hood doesn't work on mine.

It's really quite nice to hear about cars that only have "˜character' instead of major problems! We all spend too long on here moaning when things go properly wrong.

The motor in the lumbar support of my driver's seat doesn't work.
My air-con doesn't work (supposedly thanks to a front-end shunt three owners ago that buggered the condenser).
My central locking isn't working from the passenger side (I suspect the connector has just come loose and haven't bothered to remove the door card and check it yet).
My subwoofer in the boot storage cubby is wired directly into the main feed from my head unit, when it should be wired to the specific subwoofer output instead.

That's really not the worst list in the world. I can live with it.

1. Aircon, the condensor was full of holes and I dont have the brackets for the compressor anyway. No intention to fix this.

2. Cooling fan doesn't continue after ignition is off so I have to sit in it until it is cool.

3. Heated rear window, not bothered to look at it yet. Prob will when it starts to get cold

4. Interior light is not playing ball. Again not looked at it . ETA Fixed out out of shame of the longest list

5. Electric seat, the rear height adjustment is stuck at the top which is annoying as I'm not that short. ETA Now fixed.

The list was much longer.

Presently everything works other than the aircon. Condensors got a hole in it and given the expense of trying to get the system up and running again I don't think its likely to get sorted anytime soon. Might even get an aircon delete unit and save myself some weight.

Less niggles than a month ago!

Those that remain...

1. Heated rear screen doesn'y
2. Electric mirrors ceased
3. Interior light not attached to any wires
4. Air con

1 and 3 are 'understood' problems, 2 is open to scrutiny and 4 is expected to be the condenser etc, although if I press the a/c switch the fan definitely comes on and the air does reduce ever so slightly in temp so it's a partial win which is good enough for now.

Is a front engine oil leak a niggle? an issue? or as so many of us appear to have them, a feature? [:D]

1. Air con. Needs a re-gas (!) System seems to function fine except lack of cold air, not inspected condensor. Maybe get a re-gas and see what happens.

2. ABS pump. New one sourced last year but not fitted yet. Lock up on dusty back road yesterday reminded me of this...............

That's all. Not the world's worst list.

Low fuel warning light
Passenger heated mirror
Central locking never locks from driver door, but works with centre console button and from passenger door.

All in all, not bad at the mo....

Here's my list, hopefully will get shorter over the next few months

Air con-there's a suprise-not important at the moment
N/S elec window-working on this
Under bonnet light-not important
Clock-there's a suprise-have stuck a sundial on the bonnet, not pretty and not accurate
Radio poor signal-any help on that one would help
ABS light on-next job-again any suggestions would help

All the main bits work so no complaints

Radio signal - probably no power to the antenna amp - small black wire with the antenna wire.should be connected to a power wire from the head unit, usually blue.

Air con on mine!

I must be the only one who's trip reset switch is broken then........

Annoying thing is it worked when I got the car, then a mate was having a ride in it and I told him about how rare it seemed to have one that worked, and he admired the snazzy hidden button, pressed it as we were doing about 110 leptons, and booger me, it hasn;t worked since! I have all the pod apart and no banana!

Underbonnet light never worked. Recently I disconnected the "flash" dipped lights from the front as one had a bulb go and I cannto get the lights apart to fix it, so disconnected the other to get through the MOT! Tester didn't notice as fogs all work and the flash on pop ups and side lights on pop ups all work! But will bte the bullet for new lamps one day!

I think if you press the trip whilst moving something somewhere gets stripped. I know it only works with the ignition on.

Of what is still fitted to my race/track S2 the oil level light is always on because something is wrong with the sender. The brake pad light is also always on, something I need to investigate as the wiring was removed from wheel wells. Everything else is spot on.
