I am systematically stripping my car for track use does anyone know the approx weight of the following items
from a carrera 2.
Rear silencers (replaced with bypass pipes)
spare wheel
rear seats (cushion pad and back)
Rear engine cover (complete with fan, lift mechanism)
Electric comfort seats

This is only the start, the car is now fitted with a M030 kit, cold air intake,k and n filter, rolling road remap, polybush suspension mounts.GT3 RS seats.Front and rear strut braces
Next is bigger brakes?? Any ideas what is best?? GT3 or turbo

I can see you're on a mission for a track weapon.

Muffler bypass pipes, check the dB levels as you may not even get on a UK track with excessive noise levels.

I removed the electric seats and rears, they weight a lot, that's all I can remember. Thing is I then added a half cage. One of the biggest improvements for track focus has been the cup steering wheel. So much lighter on the steering with greater feedback. You need a harness though as there's no airbag.

If you're serious about track work you've got to go light on the wheels. If I remember rightly 1kg of unsprung weight loss is = to 4kg from elsewhere.

But number 1 on the track mods is tuition and track time. You don't realise just how capable a standard Carrera is until it's in the hands of a professional. I had Sean Edwards show me, in the wet, by out driving 997GT3 RS, he was just playing with it.

Staring to change brakes is a large expense. Go with better pads, fluid and cooling before making the large financial outlay for bigger brakes. And remember your braking is only as good as the rubber/ track contact...

By the way if you're some tracking semi-pro forgive the obvious advice...
