Welcome

New member
Hello and welcome to the latest addition to the PCGB forums. We now have, after some debate, a forum dedicated to the 968, and I hope all of you 968 owners out there will use it. In fact better than that, I would like to see it become one of the busiest forums on this site.

I have volunteered to act as moderator, not that I know much as yet of what that entails, but I look forward to finding out. I am also a relative newcomer to the Porsche Club, so if I inadvertantly stand on anyone's toes, please dont get too wound up. It's not deliberate, just finding my way.

So come on all you 968 er's, jump on board.

John H

With such a vocal group demanding this area set up it should be a great success!

Best regards from the 924 Register [:)]

All the best John,
can all you guys/gals make an early resolution to support the forum and John. I was sceptical that we could make it the success that it deserves to be but I would love to be proved wrong, hopefully we can get lot's of technical stuff answered on here as much as anything.
It's also an ideal place to arrange 968 meets.
John will also be helping with contributions to the 968 article in Porsche Post so a big thanks to John for his enthusiasm.

Cheers,

Stuart.

Hi John.
Just a short note to wish you and the 968 guys and gals all the very best. If I can be of any assistance to you, just let me know. [:)]

Hi John,

Just wanting to wish you all the best. Look forward to talking to you all some more on our very own forum...

Nice one, our own forum now to try and attract the attention it needs. BTW Carol, i took my seats out last Friday and there's no wiring from the loom for the electric seats if you wanted to fit them for the height adjustment we were talking about before.

The seats came out after i found find some standing water in the drivers footwell after the car had been parked for 2 days in all that rain. The intention was to remove the carpets and dry it out properly but the carpet, on the drivers side, is stuck down from the factory with all this contact type adhesive and wax coating. I spent the whole day testing all of the 9 drain holes and pipes in the car to make sure they carrying the water out and not into the car. They were all fuctioning correctly, it turned out to be the vertical part of the seal on the door that closes on the hinge upright, it had coe out of it's channel. I pushed it back in and it's been fine since.

The original idea for the day was to fit something to the throttle pedal so i could toe and heal but i pulled the top carpet off and found the water so that mod never happened. Does anyone else have a problem in toeing and heeling in their car? For it to be comfortable for me, i'd need to attatch a plate of approx 20mm thick, bringing the throttle level up to the height of the brake pedal when the brakes are on.

I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess you are right. I do operate all three pedals simultaneously (toe and heel never really seemed an accurate description ...ball of foot and side of foot is more accurate, but hardly snappy) but the 968 is certainly not the best ever car for doing it. Try an older style Honda CRX, they were great, or try anything ever made by Vauxhall, which are totally impossible.

First thing to do is make sure the throttle pedal is properly adjusted of course. Take out any slack in the cable, and then adjust the bottom stop so that you are not putting strain on it at full throttle. Which reminds me that I haven't checked mine for a while!

Hi,

Afraid I can't comment on the toeing and heeling issue...still trying to see at the moment!

very spooky though, that you should have a leak. Got in the car the other day, went to release handbrake..yuk! Obviously I may have a dodgy seal too..will have to check it out.

[:D] MR Hunter

You really do know how to network ... Heeling and Toeing, water ingress etc....

Good luck with the new venture ..........

Welcome on board Kevin. I have a copy of the 968 manual on CD for you, had hoped to see you at Cramond last week, but it was rather quiet.

Have you moved abode yet?

JH

Networking ...nope, only young folk do that, we old gits just call it being nosy!

John
i'm assuming you referring to the 968 service manual on cd in your last post - can i be cheeky and ask if you have any more available please?[:)]
thanks
Matt

Indeed I do have spare copies and you are welcome to one. E-mail me off list at johnh@arthurlea.com with your address and I'll post one.
