Waxoyl or other preservatives...

Any preservation specialists on here that have good tips for preserving their 944's?
I ask as I had my sills done a couple years ago and while they still look good on the inside and have a good coating of waxoyl (or something similar). I'd like to keep them that way. Also noticed a peep hole into the rear wheel arch area, but no chance of getting a lance in there to waxoyl the area, so wondering if there is another way in, maybe by removing the carpets and there's another access hole? And are there other area's that should be treated if the carpets and seats are out for example...?

Hi Phil

I'm no reservation specialist but I can direct you to those who are. Take a look at 'Frost Restoration', they are the true experts. When the work was done on my drivers sill 5 years ago I coated the area in POR-15 which I bought from Frost. Their range of products is massive, check out their website.

Thanks Pete, they look like they have a good selection of stuff to choose from. I'm not the best with bodywork, more of a mechanical guy myself, but want to try and look after her as best I can...
Am I right in thinking you can still get wings from porsche? Are they silly money though? I have £600 in my head from somewhere... A job for the future will include both lower front wings (or replace the wings entirely), plus repair and remove the rust from the rear wheel arches behind the rear wheels...

Ho Phil

Martyn might be the man to give availability and price on panels...they certainly were expensive in the past, over £800+vat for the rear wing 20 years ago. Talk to 'classic car repair panels', you'll find them on ebay, FB and the web. They do repair panels for the 944, front and rear lower wing sections and both inner and outer sills...they have a long lead tine, IIRC 4-8 weeks but are very helpful..

I like the Dynax S50 product because it comes in a large 750ml aerosol with a long tube "injection lance". I got 2 cans and joined the tubes together so I can get wax to the far end of the sills. Be sure to check the sill drains are still clear after treatment.
