Cheers Kerr
As ever it depends where you go and the relationship you have with the centre - it's a two way thing. My experience of Porsche warranty, through Exeter PC, has been nothing but first class - no arguments, no disputes, great service, good advice and I have probably just about broken even or better cost wise[ORIGINAL: Glyn My experience with Porsche warranty was poor, Reading couldnt even sign the service book correctly, missed split CV boots on a service then said the boots are not covered - but when the ingress of dirt and the grease was gone it took out the whole drive shaft - which Porsche then replaced under warranty - idiotic or what? I could go on about poor diagnostics, bad workmanship and sloppy documentation, I wouldnt have Porsche warranty if they discounted it by 50%.

Just for info - The High Pressure Fuel Pump recently packed up on mine. (Fuel pressure 5 bar instead of 180!) It does not go very well without it! One phone call to Porsche Assist. Low loader arrived bang on time last Monday morning, taken to Porsche Exeter where they had the tester on it almost before it was off the lorry! Pump ordered and fitted, not an easy job as one side of the exhaust has to come off, and the car ready to pick up on Wednesday as good as new. I travelled in with the vehicle and, as it was very short notice and PC Exeter didn't have a spare car for me, the chap from the car rental place was waiting in reception. Apart from fuel in the hire car there was nothing else to pay, no excess etc and the part is guaranteed for two years (although I will still have extended warranty anyway!) The bill would have been near enough two years worth of extended warranty - not to mention the suspension joint I have already had replaced under warranty earlier in the year. I also had more than my money's worth on relatively trivial warranty items the previous year. Not having the warranty, as has been pointed out, is a gamble but one I'm very glad I decided not to take. I also really appreciated not having to do all the other stuff myself and, in my humble opinion, it's worth every penny.ORIGINAL: Jimbo1271 Had a warranty for the first year, now into my 4th year of ownership I know its a gamble but I would rather put a couple of grand in the bank each year just in case.. It's worked for me so far Â

Is the part replaced under warranty given a 2 year warranty? Everything I've seen says parts are only warrantied if paid for.ORIGINAL: tscaptain Apart from fuel in the hire car there was nothing else to pay, no excess etc and the part is guaranteed for two years
That campaign was for the early DFI Carreras and not the turbo, I believe. Presumably they thought they had the issue sorted by 2010. This is the first failure they (as in Exeter) have seen on a turbo - although Google will find others around the globe! This was the original pump which lasted 3 years and 32000 miles!ORIGINAL: BrianJ Shouldn't the HPFP have been replaced free of charge beforehand under a Porsche service campaign (not a recall)? - mine was and so were many others in 987s and 997s. Or was it the replacement that failed?
That was the impression I got but I could be wrong on that one! I will ask the question. Is the part replaced under warranty given a 2 year warranty? Everything I've seen says parts are only warrantied if paid for.
