WANTED: Boxster 2.7

Guest

New member
Hello All!!!

Another new member here, needing some help, I 've finally saved enough pennies to buy a boxster. It's my first porsche, but finding a low mileage well looked after 2.7 boxster is almost proving an impossible task. I have a cash budget for the right car, but I haven't managed to find one that I haven't spotted a problem of some sort with. Ideally I'm looking for a 2000 to 2001 registration year, max mileage 35k and FPSH.... I can't believe it's that hard to find, but you'd be surprised.

Also does anyone have a view on whether or I should be paying significantly less for a C16 Option code car which was not supplied by Porsche GB? I have asked a few members already and there seems to be a mixed view, some saying it will impact on resale others stating that it won't.... I guess everyone will have a view but has anyone had the experience that they're willing to share

Thanks

P.S> See you at the karting on Sunday, unfortuately i'll be arriving in the Beemer, but it's better than the soon to be dismissed fiesta (i'll be spectating only)

Gary... looking for a boxster 2.7

Hi there - you're making a good choice with the Boxster [:D] ...

When I bought mine I spent time trawling through all the online independants - try this. Mine is a 2000 S which had 32k when I bought it, and had a full history, but I got it from an independant. However it's a C24 (New Zealand car) which kept the price a little lower, but still has RHD and full UK spec. I bought a little cheaper and expect to sell a little cheaper - no problem. Frankly I bought the car to drive so the car I chose reflected that rather than anything to do with resale, although I looked for a decent spec as a nod in this direction anyway. Also, I seem to remember that the Cxx number can sometimes be misleading - cars destined for other countries may be rescheduled for the UK & therfore won't have C16 even though it's a full UK spec car.

Don't be too quick to dismiss cars serviced at independants - some of them have an excellent reputation and have Porsche trained staff anyway.

Good luck searching!

You should be able to find a 2.7 easily, as there are a number around. I can't think of what problems your finding, I imagine they are niggly things like the colour or wrong wheels.

I'd sell you mine, but i've not ordered the new one yet.

What problems are you finding? and what things are a must on the impending vehicle?

Hi there,

I've sent you details of mine - I hope you don't mind (and I don't even know you [;)] ).

I'll be at the karting on Sunday so feel free to look it over. It's about a thousand miles over the mileage you want though.

Hope you find a suitable car soon.

[:)]

Carl,

Thanks for the tips, good to have another view and yep I agree I'm not buying the car to resale I'm buying to drive it!!! but like you I would expect to pay less and get less when I resale, I'm just reluctant to pay top dollar and lose on resale. My budget is around the £24k mark and according to Parker's I should be able to get a private or independant UK supplied car with my requirements for that money.

Just nice to know that even members feel that I shouldn't lose out on resale even if I buy a non-Uk supplied car.

Gary
