Vibration update

After another good look at the car turned out it was the balance timing that was out by 90 degrees??
Dont ask me how but after running fine then going to the Wakefield specialist for some body work it came back with the bottom balance sprocket way out of time.
Also the cam belt covers were not exactley tight and the bolt that holds the power steering belt adjuster to the engine was missing!!
Maybe Im paranoid but it wasnt like that when it went in and all the belts were tensioned ok, how can the sprocket move by that much?
I havnt had the best of relationships with the above due to the crap spray job they did on my car and the amount of time and bullshit I took from them to put things right but surely no one would alter something like that in the hope I would pay them to fix it and get some money back off me?
The funny thing is when I took the car down in January to show them the blistering paint he was telling me a story about a chap whose car was out of time and that it started to vibrate at 2000rpm and that how much money he would have saved if they'd done it rather than another Porsche garage.
Just very strange that mine suddenly had the same fault after they'd had it. Its something I can't prove and so can't do anything about it and Im just glad its running ok.

While it sounds like you've been set up for a repair, its odd that they would set you up after describing the scenario to you. Might be they were looking to recover some costs by doing the repairs for you or might be this is a warning to stop rejecting their shoddy work. Are they really thick enough to diagnose the problem before they create it?
 
Can't stand behavior like that. Unfortunately there are people out there who have no interest but to charge you as much as possible for the bare minimum of workmanship and give you a load of grief if you dare challenge them.

To be fair I had a 944s where the PAS tesnsioner had fallen off. I bought it like that and didn't notice until I was underneath doing another job. Possibly the alternator belt. As to the balancer shafts being 90 degrees out draw your own conclusions and in similar circumstances to my own adventure with a stripped hippo seal bolt make a mental note not to return, but be careful about naming as without concrete evidence anything you write may be construed as libel. You could also take it as a thinly veiled threat as to what might happen to your car if you leave it in their capable hands ever again.
