Varioram engine

I am looking at buying a Carrera 993 2c 3.6L registered 1st August 1996. I am confused as the details held by the DVLA as only list the engine as being 268 BHP, whereas I understand that all engines from 1996 onwards should have Varioram with 285 BHP. How do I know if the engine is with Varioram or not? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

surely thats just a typo ? 1996 should be varioram and pre varioram was 272 bhp wasnt it ?. to be sure, ask for an engine pic and you can clearly see the silver varioram intake on top of the engine ... as below ...

varioram seems to come with a price premium over prevario...but maybe the best advice is to not bother too much whether it is or isnt...does not make that much difference and there are lots more important considerations if your looking at a 993.

I think the silver intake even has a varioram logo stamped into it.
Would go to the garage and have a look, but it's raining !
285bhp is correct, and it should still have most of them.
Best of luck with the purchase.

only some of them have the varioram script ... mine doesnt...i tell myself it saves weight not having all those raised letters ! [:D]

DVLA info is very iffy to say the least, dont ever take any of their printed info as true!

Post your VIN in here if you want a full spec sheet from the factory
