Urgent help with 944 throttle cable please!

My 1985 (Square dash Lux) 944 needs a new throttle cable. (Saga detailed elsewhere!)
I ordered the correct one for my car from my OPC but when it came, I noticed it was different. The one on my car is adjusted at the throttle end where as the new one was adjusted at the bulkhead. They assured me that the bulkhead adjust is the correct one and that I should try it and come back to them if it doesnt fit.

Well, it doesn't fit!![] The bracket at the throttle end is completely different and won't take the other cable, so I'm going to have to replace like with like. Question is, if my car has the "wrong" cable, what age car is it from? Does anyone know when Porsche started using the cables with throttle body screw adjust?

I can only think that someone in the car's life has converted it to use a later cable (Not sure why) but I need to help my OPC out as they don't know much about the 944 to be honest....

Sounds llike you need the later throttle cable which i've just fitted to mine . i need to head out just now but will get back to you with the part number as i still have the packaging in the car .

Would really appreciate that. From looking at the PET, I suspect it's the 85-88 cable, part no. 945 423 023 05 that I need but want to be certain that that cable has throttle end adjust.

This is the same as my 1989 2.7, (and I'm pretty sure that was the same as my '83 2.5 too)

Edit - Just checked some photos - this is the 1989 2.7 for certain - took it last week - looks like yours I think and I know I need a new one too!

Just taken a picture of mine fitted to my 89 2.7 Lux also with fast throttle cam and adjustment at that end . The part number for the cable is 945 423 023 05
