Updating Car Interior

Reading in the PP I see that there is an article about modernising someone's dash. Has anyone made any alterations to the interior of their car to modernise / update it in any way? I've got some aluminium surrounds behind the dials and along where the radio, aircon and passenger airbag is. I'm thinking about what I can do next to make it look more modern whilst at the same time not wanting to make it look "max-powerish". Any suggestions or photos of what you have done would be appreciated.
