Unleaded Petrol

Hi,
This has probably been asked before but not yet having owned a Porsche .............does a 1986 944S run on unleaded fuel?

I'm viewing one later this week. Just wanted to be sure it didn't require the old 4 star leaded stuff.

Thanks.[;)]

What I would like to know is whether the 944S will run better on super unleaded as the compression is higher than a 944. Anyone tried it?

+1 on that I also tried out E10 when i was in France and engine felt very good but i hear it's not good for the lines and bores in the long run .

There was a fairly recent thread concerning the level of ethanol in standard unleaded, particularly as it is going up - I believe the conclusion was use super unleaded only as the high ethanol content in standard unleaded can cause all sorts of issues..... have been using super unleaded for a while now and found a significant difference in performance and economy.

I was referring only to E10 that could cause problems in the long run. E10 has 10% ethanol ,standard unleaded 5% and super unleaded is supposed to have no ethanol at all. I generally use standard unleaded in my 944 and have done so for 6 years now with no issues at all. Like i said i once tried E10 in France and it felt better than regular unleaded. I also tried super unleaded many times and it also felt better than regular unleaded. In conclusion i think it's all bullshit and stick with the cheapest. PS: would like to add that the difference is very minimal between all of them Also my car is a daily driver and i see no point in spending extra money on something that gives no apparent advantage.

944 S can be a fast strong car, but needs be driven in the high rev range, I would quite often shift from 2nd in 5th, but u could quite easyly stay In 3rd from as low as 15mph/100mph Best thing is fresh ingition on an S
