Yes the car that everyone wants.

I've got a PCGB member who is selling his. He really, really only wants serious people looking at it or calling him about it (i.e. he's not advertising it at present).

The car is based in London and I haven't seen it.

Based on the limited information I obtained (and can recall) from my telephone conversation with the owner, here's some info:

- He's had it since 1991.
- He's spent £45K on it during his owership (inc recent £2K engine overhaul)
- Restoration 4-5 years ago.
- Strictly speaking none matching numbers - engine 'exchanged' in 1974.
- There's rust on the bonnet and just above the rear light clusters.
- The interior needs tidying and is missing the sports Recaro's.
- the wheels need refurbishing.

He wants £39,000.

I said I'd call him in a week or so with details of interest parties . . . at this point obviously more information can be gleaned.

I know i am going to get shot for this , nevertheless if it was refurbed 4/5 years ago bemused by rust remarks, ones led to ask what else has rust ? Seems a lot for a car with seats missing, price to replace ? Interior trim to be defined , pockets 4 ???and non matching numbers ...............any chance of some piccies , mileage, whose been looking after it please ? Could be looking at £50k done and would need to be special ............................

I am with you Vic.

This car sounds like top money for what it is and it does'nt sound like a real gem.
I think the seller is expecting a flood of stupid offers and is going to be disappointed. Replacing the lost recaros is going to be £3k alone( if you can find some). The rust is a bit ominous for a car restored 5 years ago.

No pictures and no chassis number is also not going to help

Nigel promise i was nt having a pop, more like thinking out loud after my own recent experiences..............good seats now at least dat , door pockets likely IRO £400 each if needed, wheels with Diamond styling, perhaps £800 if not mullered and just a refurb....................but my real concern where has £45k gone since 1991?????

I did point out to him that the seats particularly could be an issue.

As for the rust, he mentioned costs spiralling out of control and the need to say enough is enough.
