Tyres for 981 S

I currently have P Zeros fitted to my 981 Cayman S, great in the wet, and pretty good in dry, including occasional track day. Thinking of trying Goodyear Eagles next, just out of interest. Anybody have experience with the Eagles please?

Haven't tried Goodyear but don't forget with PCGB you can get cashback from Pirelli if you use their Pirelli Performance Centres (PPC) or OPC. I got £50 back for 2 rears recently. And after a bit of haggling the PPC was the cheapest deal I could find anywhere - about £50/tyre lower than OPC. Super service too. Details in Porsche File etc.

 
As my rear tyres are getting towards the wear bars I have been looking around and prices varied by around £50 on the Michelins I wish to get, I'm staying with them as they're a good tyre with long wear rates and excellent grip/feel also the fronts have about half their usable tread left. For reference my rear tyres are 265/35/19N2.

Of the suppliers I've checked, OPC were dearest at £267/tyre, Event Tyres about £30/tyre less and Black Circles being the cheapest at £223, so if you want Goodyears it will be a full set and probably best to try Black Circles but shop around.

 
Thanks all. Yes I have always used Black Circles for previous 19 inch PS2's. But now have 20 inch wheels so limits choice somewhat.

 
My advice is go for Michelin Super Sports. Best tyre for road wet and dry and occasional track day. Miles ahead of PS2's and all the others in my opinion.

Depends on the number of track days entered!

Best to have spare set of tyres for fun.

For road use only, Michelin PS2's and PSS should last into early 5 figure mileages on the rear before coming down to the wear bars. It depends on the roads and driving style.

I live in the Scottish Highlands where there are no motorways and only limited dual carriageways. Most of my driving is on twisty A and B class roads that follow the contours of the land. The kind Porsches were made for!

For those of you living in motorway land, rear tyre mileages can be much greater.
