Tyre choice ??

I will need 4 new tyres shortly for my 2006 Cayman S [:mad:], it currenty has 19" Michelins on it , been pricing up tyres and the Michelins are most expensive followed by Bridgestone / Goodyear and Pirelli . Does anyone have any advise on what might be the best choice or does it really make any difference ???
 
yes in my experience it makes a huge difference-you get what you pay for- go for the michelins-my cayman drove superbly after i changed from contis to michelin-well worth the few hundred quid extra-would never countenance using anything else now
 
Got to agree with the others, Michelin are worth the Money. It has always been Michelin on my Cayman, but I have seen no reason to change either.
 
I go along with Michelin's as perferred choice...this topic has been covered a number of times....if you wish to see more..please make a search.
 
Well just to add to the mix. I changed from Mich PS2 to Pirelli P-Zero's Better grip, cheaper, quieter, but they do not last as long.
 
fair point !!dont know whether the pirellis are as you say-ive no experience-but i will add that the michelins seemed to last forever-after going through a set of contis in 7k miles the ps2 mich were still like new 1o k miles on with only 2-3mm down
 
I am looking to be doing some serious milage too over the next couple of years, so I shall opt for the Michellins too. Only downside is that I am not all that keen on the 19" alloys at present, so my question would be if I were to change to say 18" or 17" would the road noise reduce somewhat ? Chris
 
"would the road noise reduce somewhat " depends on the road[:D] sorry couldnt resist...must try harder the road noise may reduce but wouldnt say i noticed huge difference during prolonged test-others may have differing experience
 
My Cayman came with Bridgestones on it, although I noticed the one in the showroom had Michelins. Don't know what that's about.....
