TWANG...........Oh Dear!

Opened the bonnet this evening to check the oil, and as I operated the release catch in the footwell there was an ominous 'Twang' and it went very limp. Checked oil, shut bonnet and sure enough now I can't open the bl--dy bonnet.
I guess the cable has parted company somewhere.
The Haynes manual has nothing on the subject, I am guessing this means a trip to the local independant
Does any one know of a fix. IS there a way to open the bonnet without using the cable that does not involve a crowbar??
 
Apparently you can get to it though open pop-ups. Have a search on rennlist. some guy had the same prob a couple of weeks ago.

Alternatively, maybe have a crawl underneath.....?
 
Take off the handle & "cup" that it sits in & have a look behind the carpet, If your lucky the break will be at this end & a pair of mole grips will allow you to pull on the cable.
