Turbo water pump thermo switch issue.

Hi all, does anybody know the temperature at which the electric water pump should come on?
Mine runs on shutdown then stops after 30 secs and it runs if you ground the sensor wire, but I'm not 100% sure it comes on when the engine runs.
Before I go remove it and fire up the kettle it would be good to know what temperature it should switch at or testing it may be pointless.
Thanks in advance.

Its stamped on the side, quite high if I remember correctly, the 30s run is independent , if it is wobbly then it probably isn't working, needs coolant temp to be almost at fan cutting in point and then heavy 3rd and maybe 4th gear acceleration to trigger it on a typical 18 degree Uk day.

Many thanks for that. It does have the rating stamped on it it would seem (115c) and yes it is broken according to my well calibrated blow torch and Infrared thermometer. Time for a new one.

was it wobbly? they just short (to ground when in the engine) when switching. I don't recall a new one being overly expensive - fingers crossed!

Bought a new one recently for about ~£27.
Not cheap for a simple sensor!

Yeah got one ordered, £30ish with the dreaded VAT. Not stupidly expensive and in an easy location for a change but not cheap for what it is.
The old one was a touch wobbly.

But not that bad compared to a £50 length of flexi clutch hose, or a £80 tank of fuel. Should be good fo 20 years or so. You might even get a couple of of quid for the old one from the scrappy if you weigh it in ;)

Ive never heard of the switch failing.... I recall Thomas car had a failure in the feed to the switch as Tony pointed out...!

My pump siezed about 6 years ago and I was told by our 944 guru Denis Collins (a well respected and knowledgeable Corkman) to replace it as a matter of urgency as he didnt and ended up with a failed turbo bearing...!

Pump as I recall wasnt a kings rasom from our OPC Agnews

Mine failed thats how I know about it, but most wouldn't know! the pump running on switch off is a seperate circuit and probably more important. If it wobbles it has probably failed.

Checked mine and it wobbles. [&:] Suppose I best order a replacement!

Is removal and install as easy as it looks - remove sensor lead and then remove sensor with suitable socket with installation the reverse?
