Having just bought my first Porsche, a 1986 Targa Turbo look, I've taken a keen interest in the several threads regarding production figures.
I got quite excited regarding the rarity of my car when I read the thread about the PCGB article back in 2010 which stated that there were only 17 Targas between 1984 and 1989.
I then came across the Turbo Look register and promptly signed up but then discovered that there were 69 Targa's registered to date. They also quote the total production figures for the Targa as 202.
So a vast difference, where did the figures come from for the PCGB article?
With Porsche not able to supply accurate figures is it not possible to get accurate on the road figures from the DVLA? The Classic Car magazines are able to tell us how many of a certain car is still on the road, so can't the PCGB put in an enquiry
