I think this is a good idea for those wanting to try some track action but without having to dedicate to a whole day and and the subsequent wear on road tyres and pads. They also do driver instruction at £25 a session and you can book more sessions on the day if you end up wanting more time on track. Perhaps we could get a few us going, its only £39 too...

Thanks for flagging this up...already doing the R4 Blyton Park session, but might do Silverstone if it fits in with family etc. It's so near to me, and it would be great to drive Silverstone after so many years of spectating there.

I'll check diaries and let you know!

Andy
I phoned to book today, but realised I should first have found out which sessions you've booked....morning or afternoon?

We have both booked the 13.35 and 14.45 sessions, first session with an instructor. I think Andy may be taking his M3 and me my S2. Will be good to have another come along...

Oh that is a real shame Mike, would have been good to catch up as you couldn't make Sunday.
Would have liked to have had some pics of the ///M on track.

Hi Andy
Watching the weather!

I had decided to wait until after going to the session at Brands Hatch last Monday with a friend who wanted to try a track day in his MR2 before testing a GT86 at Goodwood next weekend. Turned out OK for him, but the weather was dreadful, rainwater running across a track that had had an oil spillage during Sunday's racing (also wet). They'd been unable to completely mop it up, apparently (cement dust doesn't work in the wet).

Well, on this slippery track there were plenty of "spinners" of which I was one....lost it on Paddock Hill and went backwards into the gravel. Had to be towed out, no damage to the car that I can see so I was luckier than the MGB that went head on into the tyre barrier at Druids...looked like that definitely wouldn't polish out. Luckily Barry Kilgour of Brooklands SVS was there with a customer's 944 and kindly helped me get the gravel out of the brakes...a real gent.

So the plan is to get a met. on Friday and decide then. Definitely don't fancy another wet track session, but really want to drive Silverstone. I'll be in touch.

Hi Andy & Edd
Weather shows a good chance of rain for Monday so in line with my pledge to avoid wet track days I'll give it a miss I'm afraid....seriously shaken by my excursion at Brands Hatch!

Another time for certain...weather permitting

Hi Graham,

We had a good day and just goes to show you can't plan anything around the weather! It was nice and dry.

The drive to Silverstone - it poured down from the time I left home until we met at South Mimms and then heavy showers to MK as we approached Towcester the sun peeked and the rest of the day was good, by the time Edd & I got on track is was almost bone dry.

I did nearly get taken out by a Ferrari who spun it front of me and constinatly got is lines wrong eventually ending up in the gravel and red flagging our last session 10 mins early.

There were 3 other 944's as well as Edd, one of the guys from Tipec has some photo's he is going to send over, I will post up when I have them.

I really enjoyed the day and the tuition was definately worth the extra £25, not a full track day but great fun, cant wait to try the car on AD08's. The old girl held her own very well once again and certainly showed a few much more modern machinery what good track poise is all about... (Just dont mention the half spin I did going into Brooklands)
