Track day insurance

I don't know if its good or bad but you could try Competition Car Insurance who give 10% discount to Porsche Club members. They were previously recommended by Porsche Club Motorsport. A subsidiary of Towergate, their website doesn't look great [link=http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/]http://www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk/[/link] Also, I am doing the Novice Evening at Brands hatch and they classed that as half a day which made it cheaper so maybe your Evo evening could be classed as half a day.

Looking for some help

I have had some high quotes for track day insurance nearly £600 per event to take my turbo on Silverstone next week after a formal track day, do the Youdrive and then the Evo evening track day at Bedford.

Are these levels about right including a 10% of car value excess (so £13k) and carbon brakes excluded

I recently renewed my insurance with competition car insurance and the price was about £750 including 5 track days including the PCGB discount. I was previously paying about £650 without any track day cover so I thought this was a pretty good deal. If you renewal is imminent then may be cheaper to actual buy a 12 month policy than just day cover?

I have done quite a few track days over the years. The 10% excess is typical in all the policies I have seen. If you are going to do a few days then taking out a policy that includes track days is cheaper. I use Manning. I am at a Goldtrack day on Monday they reccomend these people http://sp2.actemarketing.com/CampResource/5M0WKQHWHZZ99EYW/8/text.pdf If any one is going to be at Silverstone on Monday I will be based in garage 9c in my GT 3

I can't help on the general question about value for money but for last year's YouDrive event, quite a few attendees went "commando". It's not at all like a track day, to do damage to your (or someone else's) you would have to be doing something incredibly stupid as there are wide run-off areas and it's very very well managed in terms of cars on the various sections. I'm not condoning driving without insurance, of course [;)]

I am at Silverstone too on Monday 16th May with our car club Ecurie25 and 'track focussed', we have a GT3RS, a Scuderia and a Radical to play with between the 6 of us all day, I am taking my 997 too, not sure which garage we are in though
