hiya all, recently started to have paintwork issues sorted, due to go back in to have wings, front spoiler and roof matched in, altough i was pleased with the work already done, i have concerns as firstly when i picked her up, the wing mirror [d/side] was loose. i explained to painter this was not the case when i brought it in, after a quick chat, he tightened w/m up no problem, when i took car in my luggage cover was pulled across, when i collected car said l/c was retracted, when i extended it, i noticed red overspray all over it altough efforts have been made to try to clean it, i am about to have further work but have started to question the painters integrity, advice please all!! thanks jason p ps only notice this 4 wks after car leaving painters as didnt extend luggage cover until this week.

When you take the car to a painter (anyone really) you need to tell them what to expect. In particular that the interior is hard to source and expensive to replace so it will need protection not simply hoovering out the cr*p.

Its a hard thing to do for you dont want to appear to upset or insult them or seem to have low confidence in them but equally if you dont you will be upset with them and you`ll kick yourself for having too much confidence in them

I learned my lesson in the 951 when paint residue was left and although it looked clean it wasnt.
When the windscreen was replaced a few digs appeared on the top of the dash and an A post pillar cover was nicked by the knife but as the pre work condition wasnt agreed I couldnt argue with confidence.
A couple of digs appeared in the lower dash when I had an larm fitted (admittedly beside the three discreet holes where a former owner had a phone fitted) when I had an alarm fitted also little blobs of solder on the carpet which I had to tease out but again I couldnt argue the dash damage with confidence as we hadnt agreed the condition first.

Not picky at all. The very least you should expect is a top notch job and you're not being picky for complaining if you don't get it. As to whether you entrust them again in my mind depends on if you think this is a one-off out of character thing. If the bodyshop has a good reputation and has been recommended to you by several people you trust then maybe give them the benefit of the doubt - but still raise your concerns with them an at least give them the opportunity to explain and win your confidence back. If not, take your business elswhere. Good luck.
