Hi Folks
New to this lot, so bear with me.
Having climbed the long slope of 944 initiation, passed to the degree of 968 tiptronic, I have now been raised to the sublime degree of the 993 C2S Tiptronic S, thanks to the tender ministrations of Portiacraft in Mill Hill. After a week of orientation, I have realised that when in 'manual' mose, the box is changing up for me about halfway through the rev band. With my 968, 'oof the line' performance could be enhanced by flooring it in first, and letting the car change up on the rev limiter if one was a bit late on the lever.
Rather surprised to find things different in the 993 - it has taken me a while to find a) road time and b) get used to the extra grunt available - I rang Harry the Boss at Portiacraft today to enquire about this. He tells me it is normal, but I can't see the point of Tip if you're overridden in this way around 3000 rpm!
Far be it from me to suggest that Harry is being economical with La Verite, but are there any other tip S owners who can help me on this one? He tells me the 968 and 993 tips are different - but THAT different? It Seems fine in 2nd and 3rd, by the way. Apartr from anything else, I'm concerned kest some major fault is lurking, awaiting the end of Harry's 6000 mile warranty....
