Tiptronic or PDK

I started looking to replace my 996 Carerra Cab ( Guards Red ) with either a Carerra S or a GTS ...... My mind has been increasing my budget to the early £60's and now think I want a Turbo Cab ...... However I am confused over when Tiptronic became PDK ...
Can anyone let me into the secret.

There's no secret[:)]

No Mezger engined 911 has ever been mated to the PDK.

So, gen 1 turbo's up to 2009 (Mezger) have manual or tiptronic.

Gen 2 cars (DFI) have manual or PDK.

Many thanks ......... also can any one tell me when the steering wheel centres became round as opposed to "triangular" and is that the differentiation between Gen 1 and Gen2 .... Image

The triangular is the "standard" air bag wheel and the circular is the "sport" wheel. Nothing to do with Gen 1 or 2 as far as I know.

The triangular or circular was there on the 997 launch, the multi function or sports dictated the finish..
I wanted the circular centre look but MF wheel which wasn't possible...

thanks for clearing up the triangle v circle thing !!!!! ...... Have tripped over a 6K mile 2008 TT Cab one owner and below £60k ..... At a dealer but no OPC warranty, but Full OPC service record ...... I am asking if they will put OPC warranty on it ...... Its Black/Black and a Tip S what ever that means ....... If only it wasn't snowing I could take it for a test drive.

Tip s is the standard tiptronic box on a gen 1 TT

After 3 months you can get the 111pt check and put on opc warranty yourself but obviously try and get them to do it for you.

Sounds like a nice car:)

Good luck

I believe the Tip "S" has the steering wheel buttons so that you can "manually" change gear (similar to PDK) whereas the older Tip just has the gear selector lever. 6K miles is rather low for a 2008 car? (Well, for a Porsche - maybe not a Fezza!) Where's it been?![;)]
