Time Has Come To Part With My 968, After 21 Years of Coupe and Cab Ownership

My wife and I have known for some considerable time that with advancing age and deteriorating health, we would at some time have to part with our beloved tip cab, and that the only option for a suitable replacement was an MB SLK. It has taken a long time for the right car to become available, as I was rather picky about my wish list - R171 or 172, not silver or black, not 250 diesel, at least a 280/300/320/350 (was not allowed to look at the 55AMG[][]), with certain optional extras. Well, we finally found it, viewed it last Tuesday and collect it this coming Monday - and the trader is taking my cab in PX. OK, I could possibly have got more for her on a private sale at some time, but this way it's a done deal, and we are both comfortable with the deal we have done. I'm returning to my favourite colour - my first 3 FE Porsches were GR, could not find a decent GR cab when I was shopping, so settled for Tahoe Blue - which is lovely. The SLK is Fire Opal Red, close to GR!!

It's a bit of a wrench - about 4 years of 944 lux/944S, 12 1/2 years of 968 tip coupe then 8 1/2 years of 968 tip coupe, so 25 years of FE ownership and 21 years of 968 tip ownership, and we've both loved the 968 time, and for the first few years of 968 tip coupe ownership it was our main car rather than a weekend toy.

Don't know what effect this will have on my PCGB membership - valid to July 2020, and we enjoy our social evenings with R25. We'll see!!

Good Luck with the SLK Chris they are great cars and very under valued, but don't expect a bonus when you sell it they depreciate faster than a 996

I have a very strong feeling you will miss the basic simplicity of the 968, as you know I have an older SLK and a new Audi A4, and the Volvo XC60

out of all the cars I drive the 968 the most and the Volvo second, and possibly the A4 the least, as its just a technological box with no soul

Seems like a odd way of endorsing the car. Who on here is going to put £1000's in a dealers pocket, when they could have bought it directly from you for less?

Unfortunately I saw the text in the above post on the notification email despite not being able to see it here - member in blocked list. To correct yet another inaccurate statement from that person, the price I agreed with Max Bradley is somewhat lower than I would have asked had I advertised the car privately, whether on here or elsewhere. However, I am satisfied with the total deal as well as the convenience of being able to PX my cab. You only have to look at how slowly 968's sell, plus I have waited a year or more for the right spec SLK to come available, so quite possibly by the time I achieved a private sale, the SLK would not be available, and I did not want to finance the SLK from our savings.

At the end of the day, I am the one that has to be comfortable with the deal, which I am. I have bought and sold many cars over the years, Max is probably the best used (or new) car salesman I have dealt with, hence my recommendation.
