Tial WG fitting problems

I have been trialling the fitting of the Tial WG today. I bought it many many months ago and now that I have my decat pipe I thought i'd give it a go. I have tried the de cat pipe with the standard WG and got it to fit ok but now I have changed to the Tial I have issues with, not being able to use the bracket, the WG almost touching the torque tube and the bolt holes on the flange of then slip joint pipe not lining up with the WG.

Did anyone else have these problems ?????

You are talking about a Tial 38mm, aren't you?

If I remember correctly Tony (944Turbo) got it to fit with the bracket holding the standard WG to the torque tube, but a majority of people seem to just make without this bracket and do not seem to have issues. At least I haven't had any exhaust leaks or any other type of problem without it.

I didn't use the bracket on my old car and had no problems.

Is the crossover pipe the one with welded ends? If you have the solid type I don't think they fit.

It looks like I have some cutting and welding to do of both pipes that connect to it to make it fit, the elbow off the crossover pipe needs shortening slightly so the WG clears the torque tube and I need to cut the flange off the slip joint pipe so I can rotate it to get the bot holes to line up.

I will put some pictures up tonight but as it stands I have no hope of using the brackets/clamps that hold it in place.

Most of us were not able to use the bracket that supports the wastegate onto the torque tube, but that's fine because it's held securely simply by the flange from the crossover elbow and the joint to the cat.

Where did you buy the TiAL and what adaptor plates came with it?

Mine was the same ....it was fitted by a dealer but I got the same kit as you from the same place we made a new flange and welded it on ...had to alter the angle of the wastegate slightly so it cleared..

My Tial came from Pauer tuning with adapters it went straight on (88 Turbo) the support bracket though did not fit, no problems so far.

Its a few years ago but managed to use mine by turning it.

It looks like i am going to have to ditch the bracket. I don't see I have any option but to modify both pipes which is a headache as I have never welded stainless and I cannot drive the car anywhere.

That's odd. I too still have the "ear" on the outlet tube but in my case the actuator easily clears anything around it.

I'd give Vic a call - he must have supplied loads of these so will be aware of installation issues

I know it's no help, but mine was fitted without the bracket & worked fine

Looking at my paperwork it turns out I have had the WG a year. I'm not going to bother with the brackets either and I will just modify the pipework accordingly, once I have had a crack at welding some old bits of stainless steel.

What the supporting bracket? I plan to loose that one all together. The gap between the torque tube and the top of the wastegate is about 2mm which I feel is not enough, hence my plan to modify the pipework.

I sent an e mail to Vic, he mentioned the the waste pipe should be connected to the wastegate first before attaching to the car, strangely enough when you do this ti works [&:]

In that case I suppose you don't have anymore the clearance issues shown on the picture you posted earlier?
