Thoughts on this door alignment please

I must question the QC standards for both Porsche and the suppling dealership if they thought the door alignment particularly on the driver's side to be acceptable.

I took the door striker plate off yesterday to see if there was any adjustment to bring it in a little but there is not, the driver's door is defiantly not flush with the rear wing and it looks odd when using the door mirror, of course my eyes are drawn to it each time I open the car.

It is going in for PPF this weekend and will see if that at least helps alleviate the visuals a little, to be fair I went to another Porsche dealer to compare and all the Caymans seem to have this issue to some degree or other and they did offer to book me a service appointment so they could take pictures to submit to Porsche UK to see if it would warranty a fix.

I have been lucky to have many new cars over my life and I have yet to see one (Tesla aside <g>) with panel fit and alignment issues as bad as my new GTS.

They can be slightly off but IMO thats out of tolerance by some margin. It may be the trim around the rear quarter glass that is too high rather than the door being out. Are the panel gaps around the door equal? If they are then I would suggest the afore mentioned glass trim being the issue.

Which OPC did you buy the car from?

I got it from the Perth OPC on Monday, the hand over experience was poor (first time Porsche buyer) I looked at the trim as being a possibility but with the door being slightly proud of the rear wing and the panel gaps on the door looking OK it looks like a catch adjustment issue. I wonder if the door lock inside the door (on the three external bolts) would offer any adjustment? If not I think that as the Bolton dealership (they were great when I called in) has offered to submit a V something to Porsche that might be the best option.

Most probably needs adjusting at the hinges although some adjustment can be gained from the lock peg.

Are you in the NW? If so you're more than welcome to look at mine as an example. Drop me a DM if you'd rather not put your location on here. My OPC is Preston (although I live closer to the Bolton dealership) and they are excellent and they sorted a bonnet alignment issue with no issues.

What is the alignment like at the crease about 300mm below the top of the door ? That may give you a better view as to it being a door or trim issue

Thanks Dan, I may well take you up on that offer, I live in Rochdale :) I would have purchased the car from Bolton if they could have got the an acceptable spec, I spoke to Boton service department this afternoon and they asked me to email some pictures over which I have done now.
