The washers have stopped working

Is it likely to be just the pump or could it be something else? whats the usual culprit?

the mot is next month so need it sorting :)

The pump always used to fail. Other than that it could be: blocked jets, lack of water, switchgear.

Have you filled it up; have you cleared the jets; does it make a noise? When these are ruled out youll have to remove the pump, which is on the reservoir itself; and hotwire it. If it works its the switch or the wiring. Getting the reservoir out can be a PITA.

I had the same problem with the windscreen washers (headlight washers were OK) and got it sorted at the OPC last week. Pump is about £25 + an hours labour to fit.

Disconnecting the pipe from the jets and using the washers will tell you if the jets are blocked. Testing if there is power to the pump is tricky without removing the reservoir.

As Simon mentioned, removing the reservoir is a pain as it has to be removed from below, which means lifting the front and removing the front valance. I gave up after snapping a screwdriver on one of the fixings [], so left it to the dealer to sort.

Good luck!

Try removing one from a Turbo. I swear the production line started with a washer bottle then Porsche built the whole car around it!!!! []

Ive had it all in bits, the pump is fine, it seems the bottle has a crack in it and the water is just running away, is there something I can seal it with, if not how do you remove it? Ive removed the bolt on the wing, but cannopt see how to remove it without taking off the headlights????

You have to get underneath the car and remove the undertray and take it out from there. There are securing bolts under there too.

It's bolted on underneath too. You can undo the bolt without raising the car, but you need two hands to put it back on (one to hold the nut and one to turn the bolt). The bottle comes out from below too. No need to remove the lights, but raising them helps.

this is the one I was looking at :)
