The other PADM failed 718 Spyder

Well, on my way this morning to pre-arranged MOT at OPC the dreaded white PADM warning displayed whilst on motorway.
Still less than 5000 miles and almost 5 years old on my 718 Spyder.
Booked in two weeks time and whilst annoying, the warranty has paid for itself again….
Regards
Bill

  • After some enthusiastic cornering my PADM warning appeared and I did wonder why it happened the very first time I’d really put it through some fast bends. Mileage just under 3000 on 71 plate 718 Spyder. Took car to the OPC by appointment as email image of display not sufficient to order part ready to save a 70 mile round trip and half a day. They confirmed failure and asked me to re-book in when the mount was available in the UK as a shortage. It needs to have 4 wheel alignment done after replacement. Fortunately under warranty but I was told about £1400 per side if not……. As a previous topic suggested quite a high failure rate, I asked if I could pay for the other mount to be replaced to save a repeat exercise of my time and miles and when I was told the part was around £800, I changed my mind!

Yes, we've just had the driver's side replaced on the 981, which has done 23000 miles. Fortunately, that too was under warranty - the bill to the 3rd party provider was around £2.1k.

My 981S has had three replaced in under 35k miles. I think there is now a cheaper fix offered by a number of specialists as it appears to be the electrical component that fails rather than the mount itself.

UK Porsche Independents such as RPM Specialist Cars, PIE Performance and Genome also offer a sensor replacement service if you’re without warranty which is much cheaper than a full mount replacement.
