I mentioned this last year, but i have a real problem with heat, i love smooth overall performance, which i get.

My 944s2 runs fantastic never misses a beat & is still big smiles per mile with superb value.Thing is when i done a few miles (say 50+) the electric fan is on when stopping, (ok quite normal) the temp gauge is ok............but, wow is it hot under the bonnet ! I lift it to let it cool better . I am still considering placing Cosworth type bonnet vents in, to help air flow.

How do you guys who track race your car keep them cooler. I have a engineering back ground & sureley it not good to have so much heat under there, its roasting !

Thanks for the replies.

I kept an eye on temps & oil pressure at Anglesey on Friday - didn't seem to be a problem at all, even with 20-30 minute track sessions. The temp gauge is quite good - as it actually does show a meaningful range, rather than just sitting in the middle like most modern cars. the S2 certainly doesn't get as hot under the bonnet as the turbo.. I'd worry more about camchain, belts, waterpump, clutch, plate lift and rust.. [;)]

Summer fine day use & always garaged , then autmn steam cleaned under & waxoiled for winter storage ;) warmed thru thorough every week, on a dry day, for this one. I know i never find another [:(][]

I got a old 944 bonnet, from a bud, bit shabby on the paint etc, but straight & fitted 2 bonnet vents, either side . Purchaced from a well known site * bay..230696048518

After fitting the bonnet etc, & using the car around the Yorkshire dales & up into the lakes, They deffinatley expel the heat better, giving a thru draught from the front vent across the engine bay. Looks in keeping too, think i shall get the spare bonnet pained up :)
