mt engine oil light is on on the dash. there is plenty of oil in the engine and the oil pressure is really good. obviously the engine was out for a long time and some of the conections on the engine will be a bit iffy. Where is the sensor for the engine oil level?

How much oil is plenty of oil? In both my S2 and 951 the low oil light tends to come on when the oil level goes below 1/2 way between the min and the max.

There is a possibility that the oil sensor could be dirty. IIRC it is in the side of the sump, but someone should be along to confirm this :).

On the assumption your S2 has an oil level sensor, it's on the drivers underneath the exhaust. It goes straight into the sump on a triangular mounting. It's partly hidden by a small heat shield. The rubberised connector clips on and the wire is then threaded up and around the oil filter. I wouldn't be surprised if its come undo or broken someone along the route and the ecu thinks the oil level is low.

I thought that would be the problem.I'll check the connections on the sensor and try again.
