Tal-y-Llyn drive

A Clift

As promised I've planned a little route for Sunday 12 February. You can find full details http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/planner_main_redirect.jsp?database=B&fromPlace=Conwy%2CConwy&toPlace=Tal-y-llyn+Lake%2CTywyn&noOfVias=5&viaPlace0=Tal-Y-Bont%2CConwy&viaPlace1=Betws-Y-Coed%2CConwy&viaPlace2=Capel+Curig%2CBetws-Y-Coed&viaPlace3=Beddgelert%2CCaernarfon&viaPlace4=Bryncrug%2CTywyn&refer=1&map=1

Basically I shall be in the car park of the Afon Conwy Premier Travel Inn at the Black Cat roundabout (opposite the Shell garage on the A470 Llandudno turning from the A55) at 0930 that morning. The route planner gives 3hrs 20mins for the scenic journey and I propose that we meet at the pub at the southern tip of the Tal-y-Llyn lake at 1300 for lunch. You can either join me for the drive, or, if coming from another direction, just meet us for lunch. I've temporarily forgotten the name of the pub (my wife was driving last time and I must have enjoyed lunch too much), but I'll post it soon. The direct route back will take less than 2 hours.

Please let me know if you're coming so that I can warn them of numbers.

Thanks Andrew,
Judith and I will see you at the Afon Conway at 9: 30 on the 12th, nice excuse for not remembering the name of the pub I will have to remember that one as "honestly dear I cant remember where we ended up"does not seem to cut it any more................regards Gwyn.

That's 7 so far! I think the pub's called Pen-y-Bont, but the website has been hijacked by some entrepreneur wanting to sell the name!

Dear Andy, Sorry I won't be able to make it, car still engineless, hope to have it back on the road in about 4-6 weeks, then I shall hope to meet and put faces to some of the names I have come across. Thanks for the invite. Good Luck. Scott (Llandudno)

Urgent change

Tal-y-Llyn seems to be shutting down for the winter, so I suggest we continue down to Aberdovey to the Penhelig Arms for lunch. From Dolgellau, I shall be continuing down the A487 to the turning off to the right at the bottom of the pass by Cadair Ydris (signed for Tywyn and Tal-y-Llyn). Then south into Aberdovey. The hotel is on the far side of the town. Limited parking is available opposite the pub, but there is plenty of parking in the town about 200 yards away and I think it's free at this time of year. The walk will do me good after the drive/lunch. I suggest we eat in the bar good food and drink, but I can't book ahead (shouldn't be a problem). I think everyone is going to meet at the Black Cat on Sunday, so see you there.

Tried to embed a sample menu but the interesting bit wouldn't come out - still the fire looks nice!
