Couple of questions

Anyone supercharged recently or considering supercharging??

I know Colin Belton and Autofarm have experience - has anyone supercharged via these people.

Rich - you mentioned Australia - can you expand??

Hi Richard,

I am in the middle of closing a deal, so I will have to be brief(ish).

Supercharging in principal sounds great - no lag, big displacement type of performance, bolt-on etc. I think with a euro compression engine though you have an engine not well suited to supercharging (or turbocharging). A euro 3.2 is quite a high compression motor - unlike a US 3.2 or an SC. The vast majority of the experience with supercharging is with these motors. Still, the best course would be to talk to Colin. No disrespect to Autofarm (who I deal with and talk with regularly) but Ninemeister have a lot more experience in this area. I have real longevity concerns with supercharging.

The 3.6 litre swap or MOTEC seem to be much better suited for our cars.

However, probably the best thing (from a cost benefit point of view) is to simply lose weight from your car. Maybe we can post on this tomorrow.

I have real longevity concerns with supercharging.

Mine (1987 3.2) has been supercharged since 1994, just after I bought it, at approx 56,000 miles.
It has now done approx 119,000 with no problems (apart from the whistle, but hey, I knew that when I did it, didn' t I ?).

The fuel consumption is the same, and wear on the engine could be less, as I don' t need to rev it as much. As the engine has not been taken apart since the fitting, and it burns very little oil, I assume all is OK. Even my garage think the engine is OK !

Well that sure is some good testimony as to longevity - I take back my earlier (speculative) comment.

Could you perhaps post more details. Exactly what supercharger do you run? What compression ratio? Any extra cooling? Other modifications?

I will try to answer all of these questions, and more, when I return from the only place to be, mid June. I will openly admit to the shame of travelling in a - Cavalier, gosh, that was hard - as 3 people and lots of tools won' t fit in mine.
