Sunroof issue

Okay i am going mad with this one.

i replaced complete mechanism for the sunroof and the motor unit while putting a new roof lining in a car i am restoring at the moment.

Roof raises as should and lowers but does not close completely flush

i have checked seals and they are not pinching

i have pressed microswitch to make sure it is staying in contact until closed but no joy

any help would be appreciated as it is driving me crazy.

cheers in advance

Adjust the microswitches. Make sure the arms are not worn or slotted at the end. Make sure the ramps are also not worn as well as the peak is what pulls the roof tight. Any sever wear and they won't pull fully down. Try a different sunroof panel you know is good. Want to buy a Saratoga for it?

There's a good article here: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/body-03.htm

Hope it helps!

Make sure you have the arms calibrated correctly mate. You can go to the end of the motor travel but not the bottom of the arm travel if you know what I mean. I aligned mine shut then wound the motor to the fully shut position before finally putting it all together. I am busy putting a new exhaust on the donkey tomorrow or else I would have popped over. I might pop over at some point mate if that's OK to look at an enigine out of the car. That way I will get a better idea what I can and can't do to mine while it is in the car if you know what I mean mate [&:]

As said, look at the settings on the microswitches. It's a system that is simple if you understand it as a whole, but looking at bits of it makes it appear complex.

Look at the Clarks Garage article - read the whole thing and make sure you understand what the different switches on the motor and at the front of the roof do. Rob's comment "You can go to the end of the motor travel but not the bottom of the arm travel if you know what I mean" is cryptic but makes perfect sense when you understand the system.

One bit of advice; adjust the clutch on the motor so it is too loose to do anything and then tighten it up only just enough for it to bite; the looser it is the better (and the longer the various components will last.)
