sunroof adjustment help

I find that my sunroof will only open about an inch where as previously it opened about 3 inches,can anybody please advise me on adjustment.I can open it all the way manually but not with the switch.

There's a micro switch in front of sunroof which controls when the sunroof stops opening . Sounds like a either a fault with this or just the angle of the triangular metal plate which makes contact with this switch needs adjusting .

Ah this could be it then as Ive replaced the micro switch recently.Is it a case of cap off and bending the metal tab?

I need to check my microswitch as i have checked everything else, i cannot release my sunroof will the triangular cover come off in-situ ?

There a couple of either bolts or screws (can't remember which) that you can adjust to change the angle of the plate without the need to bend any components .

I thought the microswitch at the front was only there to make contact when the roof was in place? The lift is governed by the two arms, via the cable from the motor, and is controlled by one of the microswitches on the motor?

I cant get mine out either plus it opens more one side than the other.

I don't want to be an alarmist but only yesterday did I have the same problem. I operated the sunroof several times until it stopped working all together only to find one of the nylon gears had stripped and the spiral drive had come out of the motor and came to rest in the boot.

Got to say I am constantly amazed by just how awful the sunroof design is. Sorry not helping, is the clutch mechanism slipping at the correct torque?

See my post on 924 forum current-Porsche Martini-have you tried pressing on the triangular plate as you operate the switch?-I don't think the fixing screws are for adjustment-as far as I can tell they should be tight-as in my car it was the fact that they were loose coupled with the lug having become detached that meant the loss of rigidity reduced the opening travel.

I did this job recently using the Clarks garage instructions. In my case the sunroof wouldn't tilt at all, but the sunroof could be removed. I found the plastic cogs were partially stripped and I suspect it's the same on your car... it's pretty much the only way it can go out of adjustment!
I got the gears from porscheshop but I'm told OPC are about 1/5 of the price!

It's a very easy job to remove the trim piece on the roof and expose where the lifter arms meet the gears, then remove the plastic covers over the gears. Probably a load of plastic teeth will fall out!
Make sure you follow the instructions to line up the arms in the 'locked' position and check the torque of the slip clutch on the motor. The limit switches that control the amount of tilt (and the motor) are on the passenger side of the boot under the boot light.

The central microswitch does detect prescense of the roof and also back up as a limit switch as the roof raises the actuator comes off the LS hence stopping the motor driving, my 220 is a hybrid with old type mechanism amd later switches (change over period).
Mine was lifting unevenly as one side of the morse wire tube had came away from it's mounting under the rear cover, some strategically placed strong cable ties sorted that one and has been fine.
