SUNDAY 27 FEB. 05 - THE 'DERBYSHIRE' TRIANGLE RUN

You will have heard of the Bermuda Triangle - how do you fancy getting lost (or not if your navigation skills are up to scratch) in the little known 'Derbyshire' Triangle ?

This is a run based on navigation skills - the idea is that each car will set off separately and navigate a route between the three points of the triangle to cover the least number of miles. There are two simple questions to answer correctly during the drive.

There is no time limit - the car covering the least number of miles wins a bottle of Champagne !

This run comes with a 'health warning' - it is only suitable for single drivers or couples who have a strong relationship ! - no falling out over taking that wrong turn.

All you will need on the day is a very good map of the Derbyshire Peak District.

The format of the day is -

10.30 t0 11.00am - meet at Porsche Centre Sheffield (next to Meadowhall Centre just off J34 M1 - sorry no time for shopping) then leave in convoy to Bakewell.

11.45 to 12.00noon - arrive Bakewell (Agricultural Centre car park - just off A6) and meet up with any East Mids and Lincs cars. Short briefing session ( no details given before the day to avoid cheating!)

2.00 to 2.30pm - all cars back ( I hope )

2.30 - Lunch in Bakewell or depart for lunch at Plough Inn at Hathersage.

This run an AWAY group promotion.

Hope you can make it !.

Hi Randolph,

Irene and I are looking forward to joining this Sunday escapade, hope the weather is no worse than your last run.

Hope to see you at the club night to discuss further.

Hi Randolph,

Irene and I planning to join you for the run and lunch but we will only confirm our participation on Friday/Saturday when we will know exactly how bad the weather conditions will be. Unfortunately, it does not look too good with the weather to stay cold & snowy to the weekend

Will update you later this week

Regards

Adam

Hi everyone -

I have just had a look at the Met. Office 5 day forward weather forecast -snow is forecast through until Friday evening with overnight tempertures of minus 2 C for Saturday and Sunday night. The day time forecasts for Saturday and Sunday are cloudy with some sun and temperatures of 4 to 5 C.

Bearing in mind the above and with all the salt on the roads I have decided to postpone the run until Sunday 20 March.

This is the day of the AGM but it will give members an alternative event if they do not want to travel down to Cornbury House.

Good idea to cancel this week end's run , forecast is not good as you say.

We are disappointed with choice on new date, as it clashes with the AGM, which we are attending, as I expect more Yorks members will be. is this revised date set in concrete????

we will be sorry to miss this re-scheduled event, if the date remains 20/03/05.

Regards

Adam

Hi everyone -

Could do the run on Sunday 3 April if that is better . Any later than that and we start clashing with quite a number of other events

What does everyone think ?

There is no doubt that this date suits us much better; we would be keen to join you on the 3rd April. Chances are the weather will be much better too.

Book 2 places for lunch also.

Adam
