Strut part numbers

Can anyone shed any info on the part numbers below, the first ones are the part numbers on the stickers on my struts, the second ones are a set I am thinking of buying but the part numbers are different , searching on line it comes up as being for the same year 944, would a 2.7 have a different part number to a 2.5 ?

these list for 1985-1989 944 when you do a parts search in PET, these were from F 94KN4 00826>>

Struts for sale are - 944.343.031.18 and 944.343.032.18 this number does not have any results

these are the current numbers for 9442
944 343 031 19
944 343 032 19
are the current part numbers and they are £265.00 each inc vat

It would seem they simply increase the last part number digit by 1 when there is a revision ?
17 went to 18 and now 19 ?

I did get a very good price from my OPC for a pair of new struts but I remember reading the last 'new' batch were made 13 years ago or something.

I have some new OPC struts on the front of my 968, production date was 2006 needless to say the NS one has a bit of lateral play in it

they have done less than 5000 miles and they need to be replaced, but as they are nice and shiny and have the stickers on them, they will get filled with some koni or bilstein inserts

Paul, as per Waylander's reply, the front strut numbers (assuming it's an S2 you're buying for) now end in 19. I bought a pair exactly 2 years ago - @ £225 each - and they had a build date of Dec 2003 on the box.
You can see pics and read the ensuing discussion on this forum here> 'New' (but actually 11 yr old) standard S2 suspension struts.
I've now done nearly 4,000 miles on these struts and no problems to report.

Guys, the struts are for a 2.5 not an S2, different Spring diameter etc

The numbers you gave Paul do not show up in pet, when you look up the parts in pet you can follow all the succession numbers but the .18 don't seem to pop up anywhere

i can do you screen shots of the pet pages, if that would help

As an update the Mystery struts are bare tubes only that I was going to convert to Bilstein inserts, I have since learned that the seller has already chopped them with the intention of carrying out the mod himself but decided not to proceed, this is making me question his measuring.....

Web search on these part numbers show pretty much all 924s and 944 2.5 81-87. These are from non-Porsche sources and show cross reference to some Sachs numbers.
You can confirm the cut down measurements on the "for sale" stuts from the instructions on the inserts you want to use. If this is a problem perhaps you should convert your original struts rather than fiddle with an unknown item. I did Koni inserts on my S2 - quite easy although I must confess I used a shop to remove and replace the springs for me rather than renting a spring compressor as I'm not really equipped at home and being old - I don't heal fast enough if I had an accident with iffy rented equipment

Have you spoken to the parts dept at your OPC Paul? They should be able to list all superseded part numbers for you.[/i]

they have other systems for finding odd parts
