Stonechip on windscreen

Has anyone had their windscreen repaired due to stonechipping. Is at successful? Are there any companies which are good or not so good. I have heard varying reports of Autoglass, any views would be welcome

Have had two repairs done in the past both by the insurer's favourite on different screens, I will not have another as both were clearly visible.

It is possible to do an invisible repair but it means grinding the damage out of the glass and not many will do it.

Someone with a 997 had a new screen fitted at the OPC, cheaper than Autoglass and an OEM part.

Contact your insurance company and they will tell you where to take it, the trouble is if you dont get it repaired is the cracks will grow with time and you'll then need a new windscreen which by that time may not be covered. No repair is invisible, but if you get it done asap less dirt will get inside and that helps with making it less noticable.

Don't go anywhere near Gavin and his mates ...... most insurance companies will 'encourage' you to use them however, you are not prevented from contacting a local recommended fitter who will either claim direct to your insurance company or provide you a receipt for you to claim back.

Whereabouts are you ?

There does seem to be a size issue with the main windscreen repair companies - if the chip is small (approx 2 to 4mm in diameter) they are not interested in repairing the chip.
I have had a number of small chips like this that I have had to repair myself using readily available repair kits. Whilst not quite invisible they have been successful repairs lasting for many years.
You can also obtain light cured glass adhesives which also seem to work well, but do work best in bright sunlight - something lacking currently.
