Stereo Wiring

Just fitting a new stereo in my 944 S2. Alongside the aeriel cable there is a black wire - i.e. sleeved to the aerial wire. Anyone know what it's for? I think it maybe an aerial amplifier as it was connected to the old stereo to the electric aerial connection. I'm a bit scared to attach it to the output on the new stereo until I know what it is for. I suspect that it is an amplifier as the radio reception is now crap whereas it was good before.

Yep, its the aerial amp. Without it you'll get very poor reception.
