Stereo upgrade

I’m thinking of installing a wireless Bluetooth DAB Nav stereo system in my 997. There’s a bewildering choice of units out there with new releases on an almost daily basis. Has anyone done this recently? What units would anyone recommend?

If you want a simple upgrade using existing PCM, I have installed the Mr12volt unit - available on Amazon. It gives you Bluetooth connection so you can play music, stream DAB and make/receive calls. I have a multifunction steering wheel and it allows me to pick up calls from there - plus I have routed the microphone for hands-free to steering wheel base. Check it out - reasonably easy DIY.

To keep everything origanol I simply use an FM transmitter £12-15 on Amazon works well and I can get calls change music from my Spotify etc and haven’t chopped my dash up

Interested in your post as I’m looking to do the same, need to retain original unit as required for the car settings of the lights etc unless the new units would allow that? Not worried about the CD multi changer going as will make more space.

will watch and see what people recommend.

I have looked at the Gateway and the mObridge units.

I hope someone can give their feedback and experience with some of units

I have the OPC warranty as well so any additional would have to be done the OPC and at £3k I thought I’d try the £12-99 version first lol 😆

I’ve received some quotations around £1500 for my stereo upgrade. The Mr12 volt option at £150 sounds better to me! Do you know if this works for a Bose PCM system? Are there installation instructions supplied with the unit?

I had my Pioneer fitted in January by Leeds Car Audio, about £900 inc. the Bose wiring loom to keep the steering wheel controls. Full ApplePlay and looks like it has always been there :)

It looks great, and I do have a picture but I'm not going to sign up for a photo-sharing site just to get a URL. Is there not a way to simply drag and drop it?

Do you find this works well with the tuner? Which Bluetooth FM transmitter did you find fits neatly in cigarette lighter or USB socket in arm rest storage without getting in the way?

Hi TCummings, last week I had the PCCM+ fitted by Friend's Green Porsche and it has completely changed the usability of the car. I'd heartily recommend that. If not, I bought, but didn't fit, the Rennkit Bluetooth Retrofit Kit and the reviews for that online are very good.

@paddythompson did you also update the speakers, as nervous about swapping the head unit only ? Also, genuinely has it changed that much over a non Porsche unit as clearly there is a price premium to pay here and wonder if in usability it really does change things (I get the benefit of OEM parts etc).
And do you use the unit natively in use as Apple CarPlay ? (Which is wired, which does grate me…..)

sorry for lots of questions, but curious of the experience of a real owner !
